In the face of a global crisis, it can be hard to understand what that means for home.

In the face of a global crisis, it can be hard to understand what that means for home. In these works, I explore the impact of climate change on a local level, by transforming dense data to understandable nearness.
Through a combination of installation and sculptural art, I personalize the scale of the climate crisis for an audience of one.
These installations combine light, lasers, machine learning, fabrics, metals, heat, water, and air to create immersive environments that give space for reflection and understanding.
By bringing these issues to human scale, I hope to inspire and empower people that they can do something — and it starts small.
A ticket is the first opportunity to interact with a guest.
Each ticket is a unique botanical illustration.

Background
Native wildflowers provide habitats and support for pollinators, insects, and other wildlife.
They stabilize and rejuvenate soil, require no fertilizer, and don’t need watering.
But they’ve long been under threat from development and grass lawns - a monoculture.

It may seem rare for a hurricane to hit where you live, but they’re extremely challenging to predict.
There is no conclusive evidence that hurricanes are increasing in frequency or strength. But reckless construction and careless attitudes lead to increased loss of life and financial destruction.

Air quality in Los Angeles is visibly better than it was before the Clean Air Act of 1990. But it’s getting worse again and it remains the city with the worst ozone pollution in the country.
Reversing this trend is critical to our health.
Technical Details
Standard bolts of silk tulle, hung in front of doorways and slightly open windows.
Guest interaction and exposure will slowly deteriorate the fabric.
These are the urban heat islands of Los Angeles.

Lack of tree cover, types of building materials, and the size of roads & highways are contributing factors.
This is already deadly, and it will only get more so.
